LinkedIn is like a buttoned-down office event. If Facebook is happy hour, LinkedIn is all business, in a suit and tie. It’s especially useful to those in the business-to-business (B2B) sphere because it allows you to connect to specific decision-makers better than any other.
LinkedIn Basics
LinkedIn is a great way to connect with former bosses, colleagues, and clients. Chances are, they are there!
LinkedIn offers both free and paid accounts. A paid account allows you to send InMails (email messages within LinkedIn) to those who are accepting them. This is a good way to reach people who may not currently be in your network. A paid account is not necessary, however, to make the most of LinkedIn.
LinkedIn allows you to give and receive professional recommendations, and you can choose to feature these on your profile. This is an excellent feature to showcase your aptitude and talent. Much of LinkedIn is about creating an interactive résumé for yourself.
Everything you need to know about LinkedIn can be divided into four segments: your profile, managing contacts, Pulse, and groups.
LinkedIn is really your résumé on steroids. The site has a number of advanced applications that allow you to promote your products, services, events, businesses, and brand, and drive targeted traffic to your websites. It also ranks extremely high in Google’s search engine, which gives you another platform to promote your name when someone searches for you.
If you want to bring your business or brand to the next level, then it is critical to take action and start optimizing LinkedIn to achieve your goals.
